Routine Eye Exams

To maintain good vision and eye health it is very important to have routine eye exams. Routine eye exams not only test for vision impairments but they also look for underlying health issues.

The Williamson Eye Center has been the provider of choice in the Baton Rouge area for over 65 years. Our team is committed to caring for your complete ocular health. During a routine eye exam, you will receive a Complete Eye Health Examination. Our doctors are trained to diagnose and treat ocular diseases of all kinds. We are pleased to offer locations in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Gonzales and Zachary, Louisiana.

Routine eye exams will be billed to your vision insurance plan if one is available and we participate. A routine exam means there is not a medical diagnosis. Routine diagnoses include myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia. During your routine exam, you will receive a prescription for glasses or contacts if necessary.

If a medical diagnosis (cataracts, glaucoma suspect, foreign body, diabetes, dry eye, etc.) is determined by your doctor, your exam is no longer routine, but medical. If this is the case, we may have a need to bill your medical health plan.

Our exams will cover all aspects of your vision and eye health. We always strive to educate you, the patient, as we go so there is a clear understanding of the care and treatment you receive.

Schedule your appointment to give yourself the advantage of comprehensive and personalized eye care.

Children’s Vision and Eye Health

Unlike the simple screening done by a school nurse or your pediatrician’s office, a comprehensive eye exam involves checking for color blindness, eye alignment (teaming), ocular motility (tracking), and depth perception in addition to doing the standard E-chart visual acuity test. We also check that the structures of your child’s eye look normal and healthy.

Whether or not you suspect your child has a vision problem, it’s important to ensure their eyes are working well and to start planning treatment for a vision problem if necessary.
