What to Expect at Your Eye Exam

As we all enter a new normal with COVID-19, we want you to know that our team at Williamson Eye Center is putting maximal effort into ensuring your safety when you come to our clinics.

To continue following guidelines for social distancing and to expedite your time in the office, we will ask that you complete part of your appointment prior to coming in to our office.

For that reason, you will be called prior to your appointment to pre-register. This will eliminate waiting room time and expedite your in-office visit to keep you as safe as possible.

Step 1: Your Phone Pre-Registration Call

This is a required step that must be completed prior to coming for your in-office exam. Our team will call you approximately 48 hours prior to your in-office visit. If you do not complete this portion, you may be asked to reschedule your visit with the doctor.

This phone call with our team will only take a few minutes. Please:

  • Have your insurance card available
  • Have your medication list available
  • Be ready to answer a few health history questions.

Rather than completing this important step of your eye exam in the office, we are taking half of your visit out by doing it ahead of time. This will allow us to bring you straight back for testing or to see the doctor when you arrive for your scheduled in-office exam.

Step 2: Your In-Office Doctor Visit

Because you have completed your pre-registration, your in-office visit with the doctor will be quick and efficient.

Upon Arrival:

All staff, patients and visitors will have their temperatures checked outside and must pass a health screening to be allowed entry.

Guests will not be allowed inside the building unless they are essential to you having your exam completed. We kindly ask that they stay at home or wait in the car.

You will wait in your vehicle until the doctor is ready to see you. This is to eliminate waiting room time with others to reduce exposure. We will send you a text message when it is time to come in and you’ll be taken straight back to begin your exam.

All staff, patients, and guests will be masked and wearing gloves in the clinic. If you do not have a mask with you, one will be provided upon arrival.

We’ve added protective guards at all of our registration desks and on our equipment to shield the transfer of germs. 

For additional safety, we’ve invested in advanced technology in all of our offices to prevent the spread of airborne bacteria that can cause illness. 

All of our air conditioning systems will have advanced high end filters and UV lights which will treat the air as it passes through, killing bacteria particles.  

We have learned that it is not only important to treat the air coming through the air conditioner, but to treat the air circulating in spaces like waiting rooms to prevent the spread of airborne germs. To add even more protection, we’re mounting a Glo laser UV-C light which spreads like a laser across the top of the room to trap and kill germs and bacteria as they move through the air. These fixtures do not radiate below their light so they are not harmful to you in any way. This is only adding another layer of defense against the spread of airborne bacteria and viruses such as COVID-19.
