
Dr. Chen is completing his fellowship with Williamson Eye Center, where he is training alongside our team of specialists in the latest techniques in cataract and refractive surgery. He is passionate about advancing vision care through both clinical practice and research, with a focus on personalized treatment plans to help patients achieve their best possible vision.
Dr. Howard C. Chen was born and raised in Taiwan, where he developed an early curiosity about science and a deep appreciation for the value of sight. His passion for helping others led him to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated top of his class with Summa Cum Laude. He continued his education at Washington University School of Medicine, earning his medical degree before completing residencies in both Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology.
Throughout his training and career, Dr. Chen has been inspired by the way restoring or protecting vision can profoundly change a person’s life. He has contributed to the field through research publications and presentations, and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Chen enjoys practicing judo and traveling with his family to experience new cultures and perspectives.
