Optometrist in Baton Rouge

Dr. Dustin Weidert was born and raised in Gramercy, Louisiana, where he developed an early interest in pursuing a healthcare career focused on helping others. He graduated from St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace and went on to attend Louisiana State University. During his time at LSU, a course in Vision Sciences inspired his path toward optometry. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology from LSU.
Dr. Weidert received his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia. During his training, he was awarded the J. Pat Cummings Scholarship through the American Academy of Optometry, the Blanchard Contact Lens Excellence Award, and he completed advanced studies in corneal disease and specialty contact lenses.
He has received additional training in surgical co-management, medical management of ocular disease, and comprehensive routine eye care. Dr. Weidert provides care across a wide range of conditions, with clinical experience in dry eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Weidert is committed to staying at the forefront of advancements in eye care, utilizing modern technology and treatment options to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. As part of a full-service practice, he supports patients in all aspects of eye health, including medical eye care, surgical co-management, and personalized eyewear solutions.
He is proud to serve patients in both his home community of Lutcher and the Baton Rouge area, providing accessible and comprehensive care to families throughout the region.
Outside of work, Dr. Weidert enjoys spending time with his family and their three cats.
