LASIK

LASIK is one of the most exciting advances in vision correction history. Incorporating technology to create a success rate that spans the globe, the LASIK procedure has provided life-changing results for over 30 million people worldwide. The Williamson Eye Center has brought this technology to Baton Rouge and the entire state of Louisiana to provide the same success for our patients.

Our advanced technology allows us to provide vision correction options for patients with higher prescriptions and astigmatism like never before.

Utilizing advanced technologies such as the iDesign 2.0 Refractive Studio, Pentacam AXL, the VisuMax Femtosecond laser, and WaveLight Refractive Studio, we have been able to grant thousands of people a life free of glasses and contact lenses.

Did you know that our LASIK technology is based on NASA’s Webb Telescope? Our own Dr. Blake Williamson is quoted on NASA’s website

“Bringing proven space technology to medical sciences is a no-brainer if you find areas of synergy where it can better serve patients. A lot of the great advancements and innovations in medical sciences come from the joining of two disparate fields — like NASA and ophthalmology,” he said. “Most surgeries are usually restorative, returning a sick person to health, but refractive surgery, LASIK surgery, is beyond restorative, it’s transformative. You’re making someone better than they ever have been.”

Often exceeding vision quality achieved with corrective lenses and glasses, LASIK goes to the source and solves vision struggles. With a 96% satisfaction rating, LASIK has renowned results. With over 19 million procedures done in the United States and over 6,000 peer reviewed studies LASIK is the safest and most studied elective procedure in the world. In fact, all branches of the U.S. military and NASA recently allowed the treatment of LASIK for their servicemen and women thanks to studies using LASIK technology.

The Williamson Eye Center is the trusted provider for LASIK in Baton Rouge and throughout Louisiana – professional athletes, local celebrities, and even other eye doctors trust their vision care to our practice.

Complications Are Exceptionally Rare

Some risks can certainly be associated with LASIK just like any other surgical procedure. LASIK is proven to be effective, safe and permanent, but requires patient selection through careful evaluation and using state of the art diagnostic testing to determine candidacy.

Our doctors and technicians will perform a comprehensive dilated examination to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure prior to any treatment. With measurements such as the iDesign 2.0, WaveLight Topolizer Vario and Pentacam AXL, we are able to measure the eye with extreme precision for a treatment that is 100% custom to your unique eyes. The advancements in LASIK technology have reduced the level of complications tremendously.

Studies show that the risk of issues with vision is 5x higher in patients using contact lenses than patients who undergo LASIK treatment.
