Dr. Bechay is an Associate Cataract and Refractive Surgeon at Williamson Eye Center dedicated to helping patients achieve their best possible vision through advanced surgical techniques and personalized care. He is passionate about combining the latest innovations in ophthalmology with an individualized approach, ensuring every patient receives treatment tailored to their unique visual needs and lifestyle.
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Bechay developed an interest in healthcare at a young age. He attended high school at the Academy of Allied Health & Sciences, where his early exposure to medicine sparked a passion for the operating room and
inspired him to pursue a career as a surgeon.
Dr. Bechay was accepted into a highly competitive seven-year accelerated B.S./M.D. program. He earned his undergraduate degree in Premedical Studies from The Pennsylvania State University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. During medical school, he conducted
ophthalmic research at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital, authoring multiple peer-reviewed
publications in cataract and glaucoma surgery.
He completed both his internship and ophthalmology residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he found his specific interest in cataract and refractive surgery, and plan to focus on modern cataract techniques, premium intraocular lenses, refractive lens exchange, and laser vision correction.
Dr. Bechay is committed to delivering exceptional surgical outcomes while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. He believes that educating patients and understanding their visual goals are essential to achieving the best possible results.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Bechay enjoys playing soccer and pickleball, spending time outdoors, traveling, and challenging family and friends to a competitive board game.
