What to Expect

What to Expect During Your LASIK Journey

For patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism, LASIK is an excellent option with a very high rate of success!

Step 1: Complimentary Consultation

Did you know there are several different vision correction procedures beyond just LASIK? That’s why it’s so important to start with our complimentary consultation where you’ll meet with our refractive specialist to discuss your vision needs, history and goals for how you’d like to enjoy better vision in your life. We will discuss all of your surgical options, what to expect, answer all of your questions and go over pricing and financing for the procedure(s) that may be best suited for you based on your candidacy. Consultations are typically about 30 minutes long and are complementary. We recommend bringing a loved one who helps you make medical and financial decisions. We enjoy and welcome having your family be part of the process with you!

Step 2: Testing and Surgeon’s Evaluation

Your doctor will finalize and recommend which procedure is best for you after extensive testing and measurements that we will do in our office. This testing appointment typically takes about 1 hour. We will measure your eye from your cornea all the way to your retina using thousands of data points which will help your surgeon create a custom treatment plan just for your eyes! You will not need a driver for this appointment.

Step 3: Surgery Day

If you are a candidate for LASIK, here is what to expect on LASIK surgery day. You’ll need a driver on this day and can expect to be here for approximately 2-3 hours.

What Happens During the LASIK Procedure

The WaveLight Refractive Suite is the fastest LASIK platform in the U.S. with an average treatment time of 45 seconds! Patients are often surprised at just how quickly the procedure is completed and how well they are already seeing immediately after.

What to Expect Immediately After LASIK

Most LASIK patients notice improved vision immediately. Following the procedure, your doctor will provide instructions to follow to ensure the best healing of your eyes. Our best advice after surgery is to go home and take a nice, long nap to help you recover.

Even though recovery time from LASIK varies slightly among individuals, the majority of patients are able to drive and return to work the very next day.

We will schedule follow up appointments with you after your procedure to monitor your vision and progress.
